I always knew Photography was what I was meant to do…

It has taken me many years to find my “photography voice”. As a self-taught photographer, I have made every single mistake there is to make and learned the hard way. I’ve copied other photographers, I’ve tried to create what I thought would work without listening to my inner voice, I’ve self-sabotaged because of my own insecurities. Yes, I have well and truly messed up more times than I dare to count, but I also knew all along that one day I would be doing exactly what I’m meant to do: be creative, work as a photographer, pay my bills with my passion. Now, this is exactly what I’m doing! I work freelance with clients ranging from small businesses to large companies and magazines. I love what I’m doing and only regret not getting there earlier.

If only I’d had someone teach me how to listen to and trust my inner voice and my own vision…

As a long term fan of Carole's gorgeous photography, I was thrilled to discover she was willing to share her skills in a masterclass. It was fascinating to watch how deftly and brilliantly she styled her shots and her critique of our own efforts was invaluable. I'm so glad I went. The cake was good too!

Kate Watson-Smyth - Mad about the House

Spending the day styling with Carole was an absolute treat. I've long been an admirer of Carole's work and was excited to meet her in person. She is warm, wise and open, happy to share her knowledge and her creative inspiration. Thanks to Carole, I now have a clear understanding of the origins and principles of styling. Every time I compose a still-life image, I recall one of her styling principles or words of wisdom. I loved the opportunity to experiment with Carole's enviable prop collection, and I appreciated the way in which she encouraged us each to work to our own individual vision. All this, and incredible cake too... I can't recommend Carole's workshops highly enough!

Laura Pashby - Circle of Pine Trees

I travelled all the way from Germany to attend one of Carole Poirot's workshops at the Clapham Studios in London. And yes, it was definitely worth it. Even though I am no beginner and I know my camera, I learned so much about styling, light and story telling. Carole Poirot is an absolute expert with a magical artistic eye when it comes to styling and positioning. Her workshop gave a very professional technical insight into photography, flatlays, vignettes, lighting and arrangement.

Christina Conrad

I really enjoyed Carole’s workshop. Her hands-on advice meant I could get answers to some specific photography issues that I’d been struggling with for a while. The styling was really good fun and I’ve already seen an improvement in my photographs.

GO FROM CARBON COPY TO AUTHENTICITY!

Are you looking to find your unique photographic voice? Do you feel that niggling awareness that somehow what you’re creating is just a carbon copy of someone else’s work and style? That sinking feeling that comes straight after the celebrations when you’ve landed a fab commission because deep down you feel that it’s not really quite *you*. Do you look at Instagram and feel that everybody is creating the same “look” and you’re struggling to tell one account from the next? Are you looking at courses on offer and they all seem to teach a formula rather than help you develop your own look?

If you’re looking to find your own, authentic voice then I’m here to help. Because in a sea of “influencers” all chasing the next successful look, it’s never been more important to stand out with a personal style to become a long-term creative. Start seeing photography your way, create images you’re proud of and get people to recognise your images whenever they see them. Create your own signature look!

About the Workshops

My aim is to always have students leave the day workshop or online course feeling inspired and equipped with enough new knowledge to create their own beautiful images. The workshops and courses are aimed at aspiring photographers, bloggers, 'Instagramers' and and small business owners looking to showcase their work, food or products through beautiful images. You will learn about camera settings, how to use natural light in the best possible way and what to do when you don't have much light available. Some courses will show you how to “see” images whilst others are more geared towards the use of props and photography for storytelling.

Courses and workshops can focus on specific areas (advanced photography skills for example), so please check out the description for each separately.

If you would like to be notified of upcoming dates, please enter your details in the form at the end and you will receive an email when new workshop dates go live.
