One Day Private Styling & Photography Workshop

£495.00

After teaching my first 1-to-1 workshop in my South London home back in 2018, I decided to carry on not only in my new home in the North Yorkshire countryside, but also at YOUR business premises. One of the reasons is that I love to be able to completely tailor the day to the student/business which in turn makes for a very fulfilling and knowledge-driven day.

The workshop is limited to ONE person for the day to encourage some serious learning. We will mainly work in my kitchen which is where I keep the largest part of my props collection and where most of the "action" happens. If we’re working at your restaurant/premises, we can discuss the best area for what you’re looking to achieve.

Whether you're looking to create beautiful images for your website, blog or Instagram, or you would like to learn how to build, photograph and edit a still life for your personal portfolio, this workshop will give you the tools needed. Depending on your existing skill levels, we can discuss which areas you would like to work on the most and we can of course skip parts you feel you're already clued-up on and concentrate more on areas that might need some work. The day can also be tailored to mobile phone photography if social media images are all you’re looking to create.

After coffee and a croissant for strength, we will start with an introduction to basic manual camera settings followed by the principles of composition and the use of props. We will explore how to "tell a visual story" with your images and what to consider when building it. This will be followed by a set of photography exercises capturing the scene in different ways as well as an introduction to Photoshop and/or Lightroom post processing.

The day includes a cosy, home cooked lunch, which will give us a chance to chat and get to know each other a little better.

Please make sure you bring your camera (or mobile phone) and - if you have - your tripod.

All materials and props are provided, though if there are favourite items you would like to include in your images, you're welcome to bring those.

About Carole:

I’m a self-taught photographer and stylist and have been a freelancer for the past 10 years. In that time, I have worked with within the fields of food and lifestyle for magazines, have created web contend for small, independent brands as well as large companies, and have worked with some amazing restaurants. Lately I have also turned my attention to more documentary style photography.
Being self-taught gives me the insight needed for teaching in clear and easy to understand terms that benefit the students and enables them to concentrate on their creative journey. Having started out teaching workshops in London, I am now offering them in my home in North Yorkshire.
